Divorce could be a thing of the past, say marriage experts

A Catholic marriage counsellor and family expert believes divorce could be consigned to the history books for those couples who really want to stay together.

Derek Boylen, the Director of the Centre for Life, Marriage and Family in the Archdiocese of Perth, says, “[Some Researches say] we actually know enough about marriage and family life to end divorce for those people that wanted it.”

Speaking on Majellan Media’s latest podcast series, Mr Boylen discusses how self-isolation, lockdowns and social distancing, have added to the pressures many families are facing. Mr Boylen is also a lecturer for the University of Notre Dame in the Discipline of Counselling.

Majellan Media is producing the important podcast series aimed at helping families with relationship issues during these difficult times. The new series is part of the current Figuring out Families podcasts and covers many aspects of family life and offers practical advice.

The series is a must for all who want to strengthen relationships. The sessions will cover key topics such as Communication, Problem Solving and Relationship Repair, Love Maps, Keeping Fun and Romance Alive and Love Languages.

My Boylen said he’s thrilled to be participating in the new series. “I know from my own work and having eight children, the various stresses families can be under at times; whether it be communication breakdown or financial problems. I’m very pleased to be involved in the new series and to be able to assist families where I can,” Mr Boylen said.

For over 70 years, Majellan has provided practical advice with a Christian focus to thousands of people, shared stories of family life, and helped families deal with their problems.

Tony Biviano, CEO of Majellan Media, said Majellan has always been about helping wounded families.

“At Majellan, we believe that families are one of the most important foundations of society and for over 70 years we have been helping families be the best they can be,” said Mr Biviano. “We are very happy to be working with Derek Boylen on this new series of podcasts and hope they are a real help to people with their relationships and family life.”
