A Celebration of Love, Leadership and Legacy

From Tony

On this International Women’s Day on Friday, 8 March we have the opportunity to honour women’s irreplaceable role in our lives, families and societies. Women are not only the backbone of our homes, but are also our leaders, mentors, and guides, helping us to navigate life’s complex journey.

The bible has numerous accounts of women who have left indelible imprints on humanity.

Starting with Sarah, the mother of nations (Genesis 17:15-16), to Mary, the Mother of Jesus (Luke 1:26-38), women are portrayed as vessels of strength, wisdom and faith. They are the epitome of steadfastness, resilience and unconditional love. Proverbs 31:25-30 highlights these qualities, describing a virtuous woman as one who “is clothed with strength and dignity, can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the affairs of her household.”

Women, as leaders, are embodied in Deborah, the prophetess who led Israel to victory (Judges 4:4-10). Their nurturing spirit is seen in Ruth’s unwavering loyalty to Naomi (Ruth 1:16-18). These biblical examples are not mere stories, but lessons for us to recognise the immense contribution of women in our lives. They teach us how to love unconditionally, lead courageously, and live faithfully.

In families, let us take a moment to appreciate, respect and love the women in our lives. Let’s strengthen our bonds with them and with God. Let’s learn from their wisdom, draw strength from their resilience, and build our faith on their unwavering trust in God.

May this World Day for Women be a reminder of the glorious legacy women have bestowed upon us. Let’s honour them, not just today, but every day, for their remarkable contributions in shaping our world. Let’s ensure their stories of faith, courage, and love continue to inspire and guide us in our journey of life. May God bless all women around the world!

Blessings
