AI AND THE IMPORTANCE OF HUMAN CONNECTION

“Artificial intelligence ought to serve our best human potential and our

highest aspirations, not compete with them.”

~ Pope Francis ~

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is changing the way we connect with each other. It helps us stay in touch

through messages, video calls and online communities, and it can make study, work and daily life

a lot easier and faster too.

However, when we rely on it too much, it can draw us away from real human connection. We may end up

spending less time talking face to face, really listening when someone is speaking, or being fully present

with the people around us. Those small, ordinary moments are often the ones that matter most.

Relationships are held together by love, kindness, patience and simply being there for one another, things

no technology can ever truly replace. So perhaps it’s about balance. AI can be useful and make life easier,

but it shouldn’t take the place of family, friends or the wider community. We can enjoy what it offers

while also prioritising meaningful conversations, laughter and spending quality time together.

Used wisely, AI can support us without replacing the human connections that give our life meaning.

“Lord, help us to use technology wisely without losing sight of the people around us.

Guide us to be present, kind and patient with each other. Amen.”
