Celebrating NAIDOC Week

“If we can walk together, if we can talk to one another, if we can

understand one another, then we can have a better future.”

~ Lowitja O’Donoghue ~

NAIDOC Week is a special time to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal

and Torres Strait Islander peoples. It is a chance to learn more about Australia’s First Nations

peoples and to show respect for their rich traditions and deep connection to the land.

Throughout the week, people come together to enjoy music, dance, art, storytelling and community

events. These activities help us better understand the wisdom, strength and contributions of First

Nations peoples, both in the past and today.

NAIDOC Week also reminds us that we all have a part to play in building respect, kindness and

understanding. By listening to one another, learning from different cultures and appreciating

our shared home, we help create a stronger and more caring community.

As we celebrate NAIDOC Week, let us honour the past, value the present and look to the future with hope.

Dear Lord, help us to respect and value the cultures of our First Nations peoples. Open our hearts to

listen, learn and appreciate their stories, wisdom and traditions. Guide us to walk together with

kindness, understanding and peace, building a future of hope and unity. Amen.
