RESPECTING EVERY HUMAN LIFE
“Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, ‘What are you doing for others?'”
~ Martin Luther King Jr. ~
Â
Every human life is precious. From the very beginning to the final moments of life, each
person has worth and should be valued and cared for.
Â
In his prayer intention for July, the Pope invites us to pray that human life will be respected
and protected at every stage. This means supporting families, nurturing and protecting
our children, showing kindness to those who are more vulnerable, including people who
are sick or living with a disability, caring for the elderly, and comforting those who are
nearing the end of life.
Â
It also means accepting people whose lives, experiences or backgrounds are different
from our own. When we welcome others with kindness, listen with understanding and
treat everyone as we would like to be treated, we honour the value God has given to
every person.
Â
Our world can sometimes overlook those who are vulnerable or struggling. As Christians,
we are called to recognise the goodness in every person and respond with compassion,
kindness and understanding.
Â
May we always remember that every human life is a gift from God. Through our words,
our actions and our prayers, we can help build a world where every person is welcomed,
supported and valued.
Â

Lord, teach us to recognise the worth of every person. May we be quick to
help, slow to judge and generous in love, so that all people may know
they are valued and cared for. Amen.
