As one door shuts, another opens

Majellan Media was Runner Up in the Best Headline category at the Australasian Catholic Press Association Awards in Christchurch last week.

The Majellan was rewarded for the heading in the Summer 2026 Issue, titled,A closing brings a new opening“. The article was about the closing of the Holy Doors of Mercy at the Vatican in January.

The judges said, “Six words holding a paradox, set in white across a full-page photograph of the Holy Door in St Peter’s. The line reads first as simple reporting, then turns as the reader notices a door about to be sealed that the Church only ever seals in order to open again. Headline and layout working as one decision rather than two.”

The Catholic Leader in Brisbane won for its heading, “The Nightingales sing of the beauty of marriage” by Joe Higgins.
