ST GERARD – THE MOTHERS' SAINT

This year marks the 300th anniversary of St Gerard Majella’s birth in Italy in 1726.

His feast day, celebrated on the 16th October, is an opportunity to remember a

much-loved saint whose life continues to inspire people around the world.

St Gerard was a humble Redemptorist brother who devoted his life to God and the

service of others. Known for his gentle nature, generosity and deep faith, he

brought reassurance and hope to many people during his lifetime.

He is especially remembered as the patron saint of expectant mothers and childbirth.

Over the years, countless women have turned to him in prayer, seeking comfort,

protection and strength during pregnancy and the challenges of motherhood.

Although St Gerard was born 300 years ago, his example reminds us that a generous

heart and a willingness to help can often leave the greatest impression on others.

As we celebrate this special anniversary, may his life encourage us to live with greater

faith, humility and compassion.

ST GERARD MAJELLA, PRAY FOR US.
