World Teachers’ Day on October 5 is an opportunity to recognise the important role teachers play in our lives.

A good teacher does much more than help us learn. They encourage us when we are unsure, offer support

when we face difficulties and help us discover abilities we may not have recognised in ourselves.

Most of us can remember a teacher who made a difference. Perhaps they were patient when we struggled,

believed in us when our confidence was low or simply took the time to listen. That support can shape the

way we see ourselves and give us the motivation to keep trying.

Teachers also help prepare us for life beyond the classroom. Along with knowledge, they can teach us valuable

lessons about kindness, respect, perseverance and the importance of doing our best.

On World Teachers’ Day, we give thanks for those who dedicate themselves to teaching and inspiring others.

Their guidance can have a lasting influence on the person we become.
