CELEBRATING OUR YOUTH
“We cannot always build the future for our youth,
but we can build our youth for the future.”
~ Franklin D. Roosevelt ~
Â
Young people are a vital part of every community. They bring fresh energy, new ideas
and a different way of seeing the world. Many care deeply about fairness, about others
and about creating a better future. When something feels wrong, they often speak up.
They ask thoughtful questions, look for new approaches and lead by example in ways
that leave a lasting impression.
Â
Growing up isn’t always easy. There are real challenges and pressures that can feel
overwhelming and yet, time and time again, young people show strength, kindness and
resilience in how they respond. They support their friends, help at home, take part in
causes they believe in and give their time generously. Often, these everyday actions
go unnoticed, but they matter more than we realise.
Â
While International Youth Day on August 12 is a time to honour young people’s efforts,
their positive impact deserves attention all year round. When we value and support
young people, we help create communities where everyone can grow, belong and
thrive — together.
Â
Young people aren’t just preparing for life, they’re already shaping it.
They’re making a difference, among us, each day.
Â
Dear God, bless our young people. Give them strength when life feels hard, wisdom
when choices are unclear and hope that never fades. Amen.
