A new documentary featuring Pope Francis about humanity’s power to stop the ecological emergency facing our planet has been released.
Laudato Si' Partnership
In a first for Australia, Majellan Media has partnered with the global The Laudato Si’ Movement to help bring about change and save our planet.
Families play such an important role in the Church, and especially when it comes to hearing and responding to the cry of creation and the cry of the poor. Small changes to our lifestyles can have a big impact on our planet.
We hope to help all families bring Laudato Si’ to life.
In 2015 Pope Francis wrote and released the encyclical letter Laudato Si’: On Care for Our Common Home, the first-ever papal encyclical devoted to the crisis facing our planet. Pope Francis has said that “we are at the edge” with climate change and the time for action is now.
The Laudato Si’ Movement is a global network of more than 800 organisations. Its mission is ‘To inspire and mobilise the Catholic community to care for our common home and achieve climate and ecological justice’.
Pope Francis to star in new movie – The Letter

We have very exciting news. On 4 October, YouTube Originals will release the grand documentary film, The Letter, telling the story of the Laudato Si’ encyclical letter and the unfolding ecological emergency. It’s the fruit of a few years of work of Laudato Si’ Movement in partnership with ‘Off the Fence’ (Oscar-winning producers of My Octopus Teacher) and the Vatican.

Plenary Council embraces Laudato Si

The plenary Council has passed the motion for the Church in Australia to adopt Pope Francis’ Laudato Si. This important encyclical includes the subtitle ‘on care for our common home’. Pope Francis criticises irresponsible development, laments environmental degradation and global warming, and calls on all peoples to take “swift and unified global action” to protect the planet for future generations.
Catholic Church preparing for Season of Creation

Following an inspiring Laudato Si’ Week 2022, the Catholic Church is preparing to once again join our Christian sisters and brothers in celebrating the global Season of Creation later this year. The worldwide ecumenical celebration of prayer and action for our common home is held annually from September 1, the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation, to October 4, the Feast Day of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of ecology.
