“On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said, ‘peace be with you!’” (John 20:19)“On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said, ‘peace be with you!’” (John 20:19)
Our lives have changed dramatically since COVID-19 spread across the globe. The virus has damaged many aspects of our lives. The pandemic has brought us to a dark place. We have become frightened, isolated and even stopped us from seeing the good in others.
Our lives have become very difficult and many people have lost direction. It’s like we are at the crossroads of many directions and are unsure which direction to take. But as Christians, people of faith, we have Jesus Christ. He is our Lord; the Creator and the owner of life. He has declared Himself as the Way, the Life and the Truth. He has brought us the unquenchable light to overcome the darkness. He has given us life through His resurrection and breathed upon us the everlasting peace.
The life of discipleship is a journey towards the fullness of the new life in God’s Kingdom. This is our life journey in which we encounter different kinds of life situations. The present crisis has presented us with another tough road and uneasy direction to take. Yet our Lord is faithful and never abandons us in this challenging journey. He journeys with us and with all human beings. He invites everyone to turn to Him as our Lord who has become one like us experiencing our difficult life. His resurrection and His words “peace be with you” open our eyes to see the new life and give us courage to continue our journey.
It is not an easy journey, but He promises us that He is always with us until the end of time. Yes, He is there among us and presenting Himself at a time when the darkness, fear and hopelessness surrounds us. He is standing amongst us, breathing a new life; “peace be with you”.
Lord, Jesus Christ,
You call everyone by name even when we are in the dark and far away
You always open your hands to welcome and bless us abundantly
You listen to us tirelessly
You smile at us in every moment of our lives
You watch over us day and night
You forgive us beyond our expectation
You care for us deeply
You always walk with us even on the unknown road
You carry us on your arms without rest
You love us unconditionally by giving your own life
You are there walking with us to face the crisis of COVID-19
Help all human beings to see you and experience your presence, peace and love.
Thank you, Lord, Jesus Christ.
