A spotlight on veteran mental health this Anzac Day

Date

“Everybody loves a soldier until he comes home and stops fighting”

The Anzac Spirit has continued to develop since the images long past of young men scaling the cliffs of Gallipoli or the Kokoda track. Courage, mateship, endurance, and sacrifice were hallmark qualities that emerged from those times of trial. The spirit lives on in today’s service people, and so do the challenges. Veterans have a higher rate of suicide than the average Australian, and a royal commission has now been established to better understand this phenomenon.

What is clear is that veteran services are stretched and under resourced.  This Anzac Day we invite you to consider supporting the organisation ‘Soldier on’ who work at helping soldiers reintegrate into society, and to best use their skill sets in their jobs and within their communities.
