HEALING THROUGH TEARS
“Tears shed for another person are not a sign of weakness.
They are a sign of a pure heart.”
~ José N Harris ~
Tears remind us that we are alive, that we feel and are connected to the world
around us. They are not a sign of weakness; they show that we are human. They
tell us and others that our hearts are moved, that we care and that we are
open to life. Crying isn’t giving up; it’s a way to let our feelings out instead of
keeping them inside.
Tears are a gift from God. We cry with joy at the birth of a child. We cry with
compassion for those who are suffering. We cry when a loved one is ill or has
died. We cry when we are hurt. We even cry when strangers are affected by
disaster. Even the prophet Elisha wept when he saw the horrors that war would
bring, showing that God gave us the ability to feel deeply and show compassion.
Letting tears flow doesn’t make us weak, it shows honesty and courage. Tears
can bring relief, help us see things more clearly and give us strength to face
challenges. We should never be ashamed of them. Each tear is part of healing,
and through them, we grow stronger, feel lighter and stay connected to the
part of ourselves God made to love and care.

Dear Lord, when we cry, may we feel Your gentle presence. Let our tears remind
us of Your love, our resilience and our ability to care deeply for others and
the world around us. Amen.
