The Year of Hope continues
Despite the recent passing of Pope Francis, the Year of Hope will continue in May. The Jubilee Year centres on the theme Pilgrims of Hope.
Â
Earlier this week the Jubilee was dedicated to people with disabilities. About ten thousand pilgrims were in Rome, including family members and companions, from more than 90 countries. Yesterday, the pilgrims were entertained by singers and band members with disabilities.
Â
The Holy Year in local churches will end on December 28. The closing of the Holy Door of the Papal Basilica of Saint Peter in the Vatican will occur on the Feast of the Epiphany of the Lord on January 6, marking the end of the Jubilee.
Â
Hundreds of thousands of pilgrims have already visited Rome and many more are expected in the months ahead. Planned activities over the next few weeks are:
Â

Jubilee of Workers May 1-4
Jubilee of Entrepreneurs May 4-5
