Marriage is a sacred union between a man and a woman, blessed by God and rooted in love, commitment, and selflessness. Throughout the Bible, we find various teachings on marriage, providing guidance and wisdom for those embarking on this journey. In Ephesians 5:18-33, the apostle Paul emphasizes the importance of being filled with the Spirit and exemplifies the relationship between Christ and the Church as a model for marital love. Additionally, in Matthew 19:4-6, Jesus reaffirms the divine intention for marriage, emphasizing its permanence and unity.

In Ephesians 5, Paul reminds believers to be constantly filled with the Spirit, allowing His power to govern their lives and relationships. This divine indwelling strengthens and guides husbands and wives, enabling them to love one another unconditionally. Paul portrays the husband as the head of the wife, not in a dominating or authoritarian manner, but as Christ is the head of the Church – with sacrificial love and selflessness.

Paul further explains that husbands are to love their wives as Christ loved the Church, giving Himself up for her and nourishing her.
