1. In his letter to the Colossians Paul exhorts them to set their hearts on things that are above, to abandon the sins of their former lives, and to be merciful to one another. He also gives counsel to wives, husbands, children, parents, servants, and masters.
What is his instruction to Children?
Colossians 3:18-25 (NRSV)
18 Wives, be subject to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.
19 Husbands, love your wives and do not be harsh with them.
20 Children, obey your parents in everything, for this is pleasing to the Lord.
21 Fathers, do not provoke your children, lest they become discouraged.
22 Slaves, obey your earthly masters in everything; not with eyeservice, as those who please only when supervised, but from the heart, with fear and trembling, as serving the Lord.
23 Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as though you were working for the Lord and not for people.
24 For you know that you will receive the inheritance from the Lord as your reward; you are serving the Lord Christ.
