Saint Anthony’s monastic life

Etched into the cliffs and surrounded by pine and cedar forests, the Monastery of St Anthony of Qozhaya, Lebanon, is the oldest monastery in the Qadisha Valley or the Holy Valley. Dedicated to St Anthony, it dates from the fourth century and is in a remote valley of the mountains of north Lebanon.

Growing in love

Chapter Four of Amoris Laetitia is entitled ‘Love in Marriage’ and judging by the length of this chapter clearly Pope Francis takes marital love seriously. His detailed and masterful exposition of St Paul’s famous hymn to love in 1 Corinthians 13:4‐7 is itself a labour of love for our benefit.

Communication is the foundation of a strong relationship. There are a lot of pitfalls that go with communication, but there are also a lot of practical things that people can do that actually help.

A meeting like no other

Like the Tokyo Olympics 2020 which was held a year later, Plenary Council 2020 also occurred in 2021. While the pandemic delayed both events, the Olympics took place in the original host city but not so the Plenary Council. Originally planned for Adelaide, the Council gathering was held in many different locations and hubs around the country.

Viewpoint

It’s been another difficult year with the pandemic causing heartache for families across Australia and New Zealand. Melbourne, Sydney and Auckland were most affected by harsh restrictions, but many regional areas were also hit with lockdowns, often with little warning.

Majellan is on the move

The beachside suburb of Brighton in Melbourne which has been The Majellan’s home for almost 60 years will soon be our home no more. Majellan Media is moving to Notting Hill in the city’s south-east.
