In the last issue of The Majellan we featured a story about a group of men who meet weekly at a café to discuss the Sunday Gospel readings.

The following Quiz questions coincide with World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly (July 23), the Transfiguration of the Lord (August 6), and the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary (August 15).

Times are tight and winter is cold, especially in the southern states. How do we keep the family warm without breaking the bank? There are, of course, lots of boring but important things you can do to keep warm in winter.

It wasn’t that long ago, certainly within living memory for many, that the happy occasion of a wedding could be the source of great disharmony and friction within families.

Every day in the media we hear of someone’s unfortunate passing, whether it be through a drowning, a car accident, a victim of domestic violence or some other misadventure.

When I was small, I knew heaps of old people. I’m not just talking about ancient thirty-year-olds, although we had plenty of those around as well. My grandmother, ‘Ma Ma’, lived with my family and was a constant presence in my life.

‘There is no retirement age from the work of proclaiming the Gospel and handing down traditions to your grandchildren. You just need to set out and undertake something new.’

We continue to pray with St Augustine: ‘Late, have I loved you O beauty so ancient and so new, Late, have I loved you.’
